A school in Banashankari had open-sided corridors where the underside of the first-floor slab was deteriorating from weathering and showing concrete spalling that created a safety risk to students passing below.
Installed a suspended fibre cement board ceiling below the spalling slab, encapsulating the deteriorated concrete and providing a safe, clean surface. The framework was designed to carry the weight of existing drainage pipes running along the corridor without requiring rerouting.
The safety risk from spalling concrete has been completely addressed. Students and staff pass through the corridors on a finished, clean surface. The school management has since extended the cement sheet ceiling treatment to a second deteriorated block.
