A villa in Kengeri had a covered terrace with a weathered, stained concrete soffit. The client wanted a ceiling finish that would withstand partially exposed conditions while improving appearance for outdoor entertainment use.
Suspended 8mm fibre cement boards on a galvanised steel framework, with expansion gaps at all perimeter junctions to accommodate thermal movement. A water-based exterior sealant was applied to the board surface after installation, providing a paintable, weatherproof finish.
The terrace ceiling has a clean, uniformly painted finish that has maintained its appearance through a complete monsoon cycle. The terrace is now a frequently used entertainment space and the ceiling has received no maintenance in the 14 months since installation.
